Sen. Ted Cruz is seizing on a moment at the end of President Biden's speech on the supply chain Thursday where he turned around and stuck his hand out as if to shake hands but there was no one behind him. After realizing there was no one to shake hands with, Biden stopped, looked around for a moment and then walked off the stage. Cruz, R-Texas, quoted the clip and added a wide-eyed emoji. Biden visited Greensboro, North Carolina, to see North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University as part of an effort to apply pressure on Congress to approve the Bipartisan Innovation Act, which aims to increase funding for domestic production of semiconductors. He told the crowd that 70 percent of U.S. inflation could be blamed on Russian Leader Vladimir Putin.
Elon Musk mocks Mark Zuckerberg the 'Sun King' for his total power over Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram and says if his $43b takeover over Twitter is approved he would open up the app to the public to ensure free speech
Elon Musk on Thursday accused Mark Zuckerberg of exercising too much control over public debates, describing him as 'Zuckerberg the 14th' in a mocking reference to the Sun King. Musk, 50, was in Vancouver for a TED conference, and was asked about his plans to buy Twitter, which he confirmed earlier that morning. He insisted that it was 'not a way to make money', but rather a bid to defend democracy and protect freedom of speech. Asked what he would say to critics pointing out that the world's richest man controlling such an influential platform could be considered dangerous, Musk replied that he wanted to make the platform more open, not more restricted. 'As for media sort of ownership, I mean, you've got Mark Zuckerberg owning Facebook and Instagram and WhatsApp, and with a share ownership structure that will have Mark Zuckerberg the 14th still controlling those entities,' Musk said, in what was thought to be a reference to Louis 14th, the all-powerful 'Sun King'. 'Like, literally,' Musk added, to laughter. 'We won't have that at Twitter.' Musk said that he wanted to keep the maximum number of shareholders within Twitter, rather than dominating it himself.

Life in the prison that's a fate worse than death: After being found guilty, ISIS Beatle El Shafee Elsheikh is set to rot away in Colorado's Supermax jail with El Chapo, Boston bomber Dzhokar Tsarnaev and Mafia boss Vincent Basciano
El Shafee Elsheikh, 33, (inset) was convicted in Virginia on Thursday of killing four American hostages. Elsheikh was one of the three members of a group called the 'Beatles,' which consisted of three British ISIS members who went by George, John, and Ringo. Elsheikh was reported Ringo and the group took several hostages to demand imprisoned ISIS militants or large ransoms. The group filmed the deaths of the hostages for propaganda films. Elsheikh was reportedly an 'important' and high-up member of ISIS. Like other high-powered terrorist members, Elsheikh could end up in Colorado's notorious Supermax Florence ADX. Other high-profile criminals, such as El Chapo, Boston bomber Dzhokar Tsarnaev are also housed inside the facility. The prison is known for its harsh conditions, including keeping inmates locked up for 23 hours a day and having no communication with prisoners. The 'escape proof' supermax prison sits on 37 acres of land, deep in the foothills of Rocky Mountains. It compromises of 490 seven-by-twelve foot cells with all inmates living in soundproof isolation. Each cell contains a bunk, desk, stool, shelf, a steel sink, and toilet. In addition to the bare minimum, each inmate gets a three-foot window that's only four inches wide.
Biden has no shot of getting reelected because of his 'spectacularly low' approval rating and Democrats will be crushed in midterms, former top Clinton pollster says
A former Clinton pollster is calling Joe Biden's re-election 'virtually impossible' as the president faces a low approval rating of 33 percent that is even lower among independents (26) and Republicans (3). 'These are spectacularly low numbers,' said Mark Penn, the founder of PSB Insights and a former Hillary Clinton campaign pollster. 'To really get down to it, only a third being favorable and in the 20s on independents, of course makes [Biden's] reelection a virtual impossibility. 'The administration has got to pivot or this is going to be a tornado of a midterms if these numbers continue to hold up,' Penn said Thursday during an appearance on Fox News. Biden has faced multiple crises during his first year in office, from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to inflation and surging gas prices, which the Biden administration has blamed on 'Putin's Price Hike' after the US sanctioned Russian oligarchs and companies in response to the invasion on Ukraine. Penn says the president has had more than enough time to build goodwill with the American people. 'The administration has got to pivot or this is going to be a tornado of a midterms if these numbers continue to hold up. And frankly, they've had month after month here to do something to turn around on inflation, on immigration, on Ukraine, on crime. And they just haven't done it.' Penn, who has become a staunch supporter of former president Donald Trump in recent years, said the administration has to 'signal big changes' in energy and 'OK some pipelines.' He added: 'On immigration, they've got to close the border and signal they really want comprehensive immigration reform. Bring that back. Be a leader in that. 'On crime, they need to show that, look, if local DAs won't do the job, the feds will step in.
Mystery as more than 100 people at same New Jersey high school get rare brain cancer: Survivor demands answers after he, his wife and sister who died all fell sick
More than 100 students and staff who either attended or worked at a school in Woodbridge New Jersey all had rare brain tumors - glioblastoma multiforme - an aggressive cancer. According to the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, glioblastoma is normally extremely rare with an incidence of 3.21 per 100,000. The link was uncovered by a former resident of student of Colonia High School in Woodbridge Township after Al Lupiano, 50, left with wife Michele, was diagnosed with the rare form of cancer in 2002. His wife was diagnosed within the last year and his sister, seen right, died last month from the disease. Lupiano put out a plea for more people to come forward resulting in 102 cases. The vast majority of those who have developed brain tumors 'graduated between 1975 and 2000. Lupiano believes some form of ionizing radiation may be in the soil at the grounds of the school where it was built in the 1960s to be the cause.
A night in a Chelsea hostel, breakfast in Chinatown, lunch at Katz's Deli and then a beer while waiting for cops after turning himself in: How subway shooter Frank James spent 30 hours wandering free in NYC after shooting 10
In the 30 hours between the attack and his arrest, however, James was seen - and photographed - strolling around Manhattan, seemingly without a care in the world, as thousands of cops scoured the city in a frantic effort to track him down. Immediately after fleeing the scene at the 36th Street subway station, James - who donned a orange construction worker-style vest, hardhat, and gasmask during the attack - ditched his gear, and reportedly boarded a southbound R train for one stop, exiting at 25th Street. Video footage from a bodega by the station shows James, in all black, emerging from the subway system at 8:30 am, before walking away. About five minutes later, at roughly 8:35 am James was seen on video, in black, walking past Greenwood Cemetery blocks away to board a bus, which he took to a subway stop at Seventh Ave. and Ninth St. in Park Slope. James then bought a mask at the 9th Street Quick Stop, less than two miles from the scene of that attack that occurred just a half hour before. James, a career criminal who lives in Philadelphia, managed to lay low for the rest of the day, somehow evading thousands of cops mobilized after the attack, which saw the suspect fire off 33 shots at the trapped straphangers, injuring 10. That night, law enforcement sources revealed, James crossed the bridge into Manhattan, where he stayed at the Chelsea International Hostel on West 20th St overnight. The next morning, at roughly 10:30 am, the suspect was spotted - and photographed - dining outdoors at trendy Chinatown eatery Dimes on Canal St., by Twitter user Jack Griffin, who shared two photos of the suspect to social media. One of the photos posted by Griffin, at 10:29 am, showed a heavyset man matching James' description walking down Canal Street still dressed in black, while another showed him sitting at Dimes' outdoor dining area 'just staring into space,' Griffin told The News.
Twitter digs in for a fight: CEO Parag Agrawal says firm is 'still evaluating' Elon Musk's $43b takeover offer while Mark Cuban claims Tesla billionaire is 'just 'f****** with the SEC'
Parag Agrawal, the CEO of Twitter (inset), told staff on Thursday that a decision had not yet been made about Elon Musk's $43 billion takeover bid, as Mark Cuban (left) speculated about Musk's motives. Cuban, the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks, said on Thursday that he believes Musk is toying with the SEC - who famously fined him and Tesla $40 million in 2018. Musk himself on Thursday denied that he wanted to buy Twitter for financial reasons, insisting he was motivated by protecting freedom of speech. 'This is not about the economics,' Musk said, speaking at a TED conference in Vancouver. 'Twitter has become kind of the de facto town square, so it's really important that people have both the reality and perception that they are able to speak freely, in the bounds of the law.'

Harry and Meghan's surprise 'olive branch' meetings yesterday represented the first time the couple had returned to the UK together in two years. It is not known how the couple arrived - whether they took a private jet or flew in commercially - but their presence is the talk of locals on the Windsor estate, the Mail understands. They arrived incognito on Wednesday and are believed to have stayed at Frogmore Cottage, the home they have kept on despite quitting the UK where Princess Eugenie and her family currently stay, overnight. They are not believed to have their children, Archie and Lilibet with them.
CIA director calls China's Xi Jinping 'a silent partner' to Putin's warmongering in Ukraine: Reveals how agency has changed tactics in sharing intel on Russia with Kyiv
CIA Director William Burns, inset center, called China, led by President Xi Jinping, 'a silent partner in Putin's aggression', seen right. Burns said China posed the 'greatest challenge' confronting the U.S. and 'the most profound test that CIA has ever faced'. Burns also decried 'horrific' crimes committed by Russian forces in Bucha and throughout Ukraine. He warned subsequent phases of the war, soon to enter its eighth week, would involve continued bloodshed. He also revealed how the agency had changed tactics with a new policy of publicly releasing declassified intelligence about Russia's plans.
Ingenious ruse that blew apart Russia's flagship: Sunk by the Ukrainians, warship hit by a pair of 1-ton missiles that sparked spectacular explosion in ammo store - after Putin's crew were distracted by decoy drones
The pride of Russia's fearsome Black Sea fleet was taken out yesterday in one of the most cunning operations of the war. Ukrainian commanders destroyed the huge Moskva warship by using drones to distract its defence systems and allowing surface-skimming missiles to strike. The 12,500-ton cruiser's protective sensors seemingly did not see the Neptune rockets heading its way because they were tracking Turkish TB2 drones. Providing a massive boost to morale in Kyiv, and a huge blow to Vladimir Putin's navy, two missiles slammed into the port side of the 611ft Moskva, rocking her violently and causing a catastrophic explosion and huge fires.
'Doomsday dad', 46, who wanted 'control over the lives and deaths' of his wife and three kids is convicted of killing them - and the family dog - in Florida Disney town after just six hours of deliberation

Prosecutors weren't seeking the death penalty, which means Todt will receive a mandatory life sentence. Judge Keith A. Carsten called Todt 'a destroyer of worlds', while the father-of-three was seen constantly shaking his head as he was in dismay from learning his verdict.
Shocking moment man on scooter knocks down woman, 59, on street then returns to try and rape her in crime ridden NYC
This is the shocking moment a man riding a scooter knocks down a woman walking along a Brooklyn street. As the battered woman struggles to stand up, the man on the scooter returns. Within seconds, the suspect viciously grabs the woman dragging her and slapping her repeatedly. As she tries to fight back the man rips the victims pants and underwear off and sexually abuses her, according to the NYPD. As the ferocious attack was unfolding, a few vehicles drove by, but it appeared that no one came forward to help the victim.
Dr. Laurel Anderson, a marriage counselor who worked with the couple for a total of 21 sessions beginning in October 2015, gave revealing testimony during Depp's $100million defamation trial in Virginia. Dr. Anderson said, 'I know she led (the fight) on more than one occasion and started it to keep him with her because abandonment and having him leave was her worst nightmare'. 'If he was going to leave she would strike him to keep him there. She would rather be in a fight than have him leave,' Dr. Anderson added. She said Depp was 'triggered' by Heard and said 'they engaged in what I saw as mutual abuse'.
Courtney Clenney's lawyer denies his client received 'special treatment' from Miami cops after stabbing to death Christian Toby Obumseli and claims OnlyFans model was a human trafficking victim
An attorney for the OnlyFans model who stabbed her ex-boyfriend to death in Miami is denying that she's been 'afforded special treatment' but admits that the pair had a 'tumultuous relationship.' Courtney Clenney, 25, called 911 after stabbing Christian Obumseli in the shoulder at the One Paraiso Building - a luxury skyscraper in Edgewater, Miami - on April 3. She told police she acted out of self defense and was not arrested. Her lawyer Frank Prieto says she's been treated like any other civilian by the justice system. 'Courtney is mourning the loss of Mr. Obumseli, in private, out of respect for his family. 'Justice in this matter calls for no arrest or charges. It is absolutely irresponsible for the family's attorney (who was not present and has not seen the evidence in this case) to allege that the events of that evening were "unprovoked" or to insinuate that she is being afforded special treatment,' Prieto told The Sun. Obumseli, 27, was reportedly seen sleeping in common areas of the building after he and Clenney broke up last month. Meanwhile, a friend of the couple said she only ever saw 'her hit him' - not the other way around, as Obumseli's family demand that Clenney be charged with his murder. The couple had recently moved from Austin to Miami. Clenney's lawyer says there's enough proof that she acted in self defense, as a victim of 'domestic violence and trafficking,' when she fatally stabbed Obumseli earlier this month. 'Since the events of that tragic night, Courtney has been filled with absolute grief and despair,' Prieto said in a statement to The Sun.
Las Vegas firearm safety presentation that warned black people to 'lick the chicken grease off your fingers before shooting' sparks outrage - but gun instructor says it was a joke
A gun safety instructor who told black members of a Las Vegas class to 'lick the chicken grease off [their] fingers before shooting' denied that he was racist, saying that he was trying to 'shock their system' to remember 'an important safety rule.' At the annual VegasCCW event at Clark County Library on April 10, instructor Nephi 'Khaliki' Oliva (who also spells his name 'Nafi') showed a slide featuring a caricature of a black man wearing sagging pants wielding a side-cocked gun, and another slide showing an illustrated beer-bellied white man holding a beer in one hand and a rifle in the other. They were labeled 'Firearm Safety for Black People' and 'Firearm Safety for White People,' respectively. Oliva read bullet points pictured alongside the black caricature to the audience: 'ALWAYS shoot the gun right side up' and to 'ALWAYS lick the chicken grease off your fingers.' He read two more bullet points: 'ALWAYS make sure there's a white person around so you have someone to blame for everything that goes wrong in your life' and 'ALWAYS aim for small children to ensure you actually hit another gang member.' Alongside the white man, the bullet points read: 'ALWAYS put your beer down before handling a firearm,' 'ALWAYS keep your finger out of your nose while shooting,' 'ALWAYS wear a wife beater on the range' and 'ALWAYS make sure there are no minorities in your backdrop.' In videos from the event posted to social media, some members of the large audience can be heard laughing at the racially-motivated jokes while others voice their displeasure. Many denounced the message and wondered how the quips were relevant to a class for concealed carry permits. But Oliva told KSNV that he included the slides 'to take a very mundane subject that gets forgotten very easily but is very important and making it memorable by shocking their system.'

Pope Francis washes the feet of a dozen inmates at a Rome prison in a ceremony during this year's Holy Week
Symbolizing the number of Jesus' apostles, the twelve inmates sat on chairs on a raised platform. The pontiff washed, dried, then kissed the feet of each of the inmates, all who were wearing masks against the spread of COVID-19. Some inmates leaned over to kiss the pope's hands in gratitude. In the prison chapel, the pope celebrated a Mass attended by inmates, some prison staff and Italy's justice minister, the Vatican said in a statement. Holy Week, which draws hundreds of thousands of faithful to the Vatican, began with Palm Sunday Mass on April 10 in St. Peter's Square and culminates this Sunday at Easter, when the faithful mark the resurrection of Jesus. This year, the Good Friday torch-lit Way of the Cross procession in Rome returns to its traditional venue at the ancient Colosseum after a two-year absence due to the coronavirus pandemic.
